Niagara Region residents want to keep control of water services

A new CUPE Ontario poll found strong opposition in Niagara Region to the Ford government’s new water corporation law, with most residents satisfied with existing publicly owned water services and wanting local governments to retain control. While residents recognize major infrastructure upgrades are needed, most prefer solutions such as provincial funding, borrowing, or higher taxes on corporations and high-income earners rather than transferring water systems to business corporations.
